Our Goals for Education

Purpose of Education

The world is changing fast, and education has to adapt to the new reality. It must teach students how to solve problems and make decisions so that they can lead a productive life in 2021.

Academic Achievement

Academic achievement is the process of acquiring educational skills, materials and knowledge. The outcome of this process is typically the acquisition of a certificate, diploma or degree.

To achieve academic achievement, students must have goals that are specific and attainable. They also need to be motivated to pursue these goals.

According to the Goal Orientation Theory, students have distinct orientations toward a type of goal. These orientations are either mastery-approach or performance-approach.

Social Efficiency

We want our schools to provide students with the capacity for participation in the productive activities of society. We also want them to know how to carry out these activities in an efficient manner and with the maximum social and economic benefit to all involved.

We think that it is important to consider the relationship of social efficiency to the quality of life. In the last analysis social efficiency is the capacity to participate in a give and take of experiences which have meaning, value, and pleasure.

It is also the capacity to appreciate ideas, art, and broad human interests; and a willingness to participate in community. It is also the cultivation of intelligent sympathy, a desire for harmony, and the rebelliousness to those unnecessarily dividing men from each other.

Social Mobility

Social mobility refers to the ability to move between positions in society that have different status or reward. It may be upward or downward or between generations.

Sociologists argue that social mobility helps to structure and form a society by providing new roles and greater rewards for the hard work of those who have moved into them. This is a practical benefit because it encourages people to develop their abilities and work for the good things of life that are scarce and often difficult to acquire.

This can lead to greater class solidarity, which can help lower-income populations achieve a better economic position. This could be particularly true in societies that are heavily stratified by income.
